Coloring Tips
- Scale coloring technique: Use dark gray as the base, then use silver or dark blue to lightly brighten the top of each scale to create a three-dimensional effect.
- Flame gradient: Use a gradient of yellow → orange → red from the inside to the outside, with the center being the brightest, and use yellow to highlight.
- Wing processing: Use a dark color to gradually fade from the edge of the wing membrane to the inside, retaining the light lines of the blood vessel pattern.
- Eye highlights: Leave white highlights, use a red gradient to paint the pupil, and finally use a black pen to outline.
- Shadow techniques: Darken the color on the abdomen, wing folds, and other parts to enhance the dragon’s volume.
Fun Facts
- Did you know? Dragons have different images in different cultures: Chinese dragons symbolize good luck, Western dragons often represent power, and this majestic black dragon is the classic shape in Western legends!
- There is actually a scientific explanation for the dragon’s ability to breathe fire! Scientists speculate that some dinosaurs may be able to spray flammable gases like skunks, which will burn when they encounter air, just like the principle of a lighter.
- The shiny scales are actually the dragon’s natural armor, which is harder than steel. Crocodiles and pangolins also have similar scales to protect themselves!
- The dragon’s wings are particularly spectacular when they spread out! The largest flying animal in existence, the albatross, has a wingspan of up to 3.5 meters, but the legend says that the dragon’s wings are much larger!
- Interestingly, although dragons can breathe fire, their wings will not be burned, just like flamingos will not be burned when standing in hot water!
